In December 2025, Ireland's asbestos rules changed significantly under S.I. No. 632/2025 and the HSA's 2025 Code of Practice.
KEY CHANGES INCLUDE:
Removal is now the default – The old "manage in place" approach no longer applies as standard, removal is the only option.
Surveys are mandatory, not optional – A refurbishment/demolition survey is required and materials are presumed asbestos until proven otherwise.
No risk-based differentiation – High-risk and low-risk asbestos are now treated identically under the law.
Personal liability for directors/managers – The HSA can now hold companys accountable with prohibition & prosecution notices.

Asbestos is a naturally occurring fibrous mineral used widely in construction and manufacturing throughout the 20th century. It was prized for its strength, heat resistance, and insulating properties. However, when disturbed, it releases microscopic fibres into the air that — if inhaled — can cause serious and life-threatening conditions including mesothelioma and asbestosis. Its use in building materials was banned in Ireland and the UK in 1999.
Any building constructed or refurbished before 2000 may contain asbestos materials. Common locations include roof and wall cladding, gutters and downpipes, insulation board, ceiling tiles, and floor tiles. Only a survey with laboratory-analysed samples can confirm it.
Warehouses, factories, retail units, schools, healthcare facilities, offices, agricultural sheds, and public sector buildings. If it's a commercial or industrial roof or just has asbestos, we cover it.
We aim to have a surveyor on site within a few working days of your enquiry. For active leaks or safety concerns, we prioritise emergency call-outs.
No. If the material is in good condition and won't be disturbed, managing it in place is often the correct and more economical approach. Removal is required where the material is damaged, deteriorating, or in the way of planned works.
No, only someone who is licensed can legally remove asbestos. We hold the appropriate licence and notify the Health and Safety Authority in advance of licensable works, as required under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Exposure to Asbestos) Regulations.
Not usually. Most removals are carried out within sealed enclosures, out of hours, or in phased zones so that the rest of the site keeps operating. We'll agree the programme with you before work starts.
Yes. We are the only licensed company in Ireland to be able to remove asbestos and re-roof at the same time.
